To start 2020, we will be featuring a case study from last year, along with a few of our musings.
Back in October, we carried out some garden canvas work for a client with slightly alternative requirements to what we normally specialise in.
A highly versatile and sturdy outdoor rabbit hutch cover was made in Sunbrella Plus Forest Green, complete with windows and straps with buckles to allow the front section to be retracted for warmer weather. It was not only to provide shelter for the animals but also protect the treated woodwork and hutch fastenings from the elements.
The cover was supplied on a self-fit basis with the measurements of the hutch supplied by the client. Designed and manufactured in house, the plans included a focus on a secure, smart fit, as well as a model that permits roof runoff, rather than allowing rainwater to puddle in areas.
The robust canvas has withstood rain, hard frost and Storm Brendan as well as blocking out noise pollution to a certain extent (fireworks), whilst retaining its original shape with no bagginess or shrinkage, as well as its vivid colour.
By opting for Sunbrella Plus, our client has also avoided mould spores and the dreaded overall damp smell, thanks to the breathability of the fabric, as it allows air to circulate thus preventing mould from forming and from heat-accumulating.
